RISE means Responsible Innovation in Sustainable Ecosystems.
The objective of RISE is to explore the ways in which the application of Responsible Innovation pillars (public engagement, governance, science education, ethics, open access, gender, as well as sustainability, inclusion and social justice) influence the performance of innovation ecosystems and their survival in the long term given economic and research boundaries
Sustainability is a wide concept, indeed
Sustainable Innovation Ecosystems are examples whereby the innovation flows from the very beginning of design phase until the territorial deployment. Ecosystems include all the actors and working stakeholders that actively identify the business, social and economic boundaries of a territory. These are: Universities, Research Centres, Firms, Districts, Public Administrations, Educational Institutes, the Local and National Agencies, the Associations and the Civil Society.
In this perspective, the term “sustainability” becomes a wider concept, embracing economic, environmental, ethic as well as social aspects.
…so, what is RISE Campaign?
The RISE initiative started in 2018 with the aim to provide an answer to the definition, the recognition, the implementation of effective actions and the measurement of the collective sustainability. Sustainability themes are being explored in the latest years, but it’s still missing a comprehensive and systemic approach to the whole innovation ecosystems.
The objective is to explore the ways in which the application of RRI pillars (public engagement, governance, science education, ethics, open access, gender, as well as sustainability, inclusion and social justice) influence the performance of these industrial and innovation ecosystems and their survival in the long term given economic and research boundaries.
RISE has explored the following topics:
- the role of education into an innovation strategy for such ecosystems
- solutions to share responsibilities among stakeholders within an innovation ecosystem
- dynamic behaviour within industrial-research-educational-societal-territorial-funding ecosystems
- RRI actions in the industrial application of sustainable research and innovation, in Industry4.0 scenarios
- potential suitable indicators monitoring these processes
